Keny a. has learned traditional Japanese calligraphy from the childhood and worked on design system development as a software engineer. These experiences makes him who can draw calligraphy works with an art and digital technology.

In the 1990s, he became interested in website development and began publishing his calligraphic works online. He gradually saw the potential in digitally manipulating characters, and has continued to explore this modern method of expression ever since.

He believes the following three elements are important for modern calligraphy:

1. Modernity : It requires a sensibility and expression that is acceptable to modern people, without being bound by classical expressions.

2. Globalization: Works written in English, a globally understood language rather than a language difficult to read, reach a wider audience.

3. Message: His work is not focused on showcasing the beauty of ink, as in some calligraphic works known as ""ink painting,"" but rather on conveying a message through words.

Even as technology advances, the richness of ink color and bleeding, and the diverse expressions of lines created by brushwork, will remain unchanged. He aims to create a unique world that utilizes the characteristics of both.

Keny a.は、幼い頃から伝統的な書の技法を学び、その後、ソフトウェアエンジニアとしてデザインシステムの開発に携り、その経験から書とデジタルの融合を試みた書作品を制作する。

1990年代、Webサイトの開発に興味を持ち、書の作品をWebサイトで公開を始めると次第に文字にデジタル加工を加えることに可能性を感じ、現在までその現代的な表現方法を探求している。

現代的な書には、次の3つの要素が重要だと考えている。

1. 時代性
古典的な表現にとらわれず、現代人に受け入れられる感性と表現が必要である

2. グローバル化
読むことが困難な言語ではなく、世界で通用する英語での作品はより多くの人に伝わる

3. メッセージ性
墨象と呼ばれるような墨の美しさを前面に出した作品ではなく、言葉によるものである

今後、テクノロジーが進化していっても、墨の色と滲み、筆使いによる線の表情の多彩さは変わらずにあるので、その両者の特性を活かした個性的な世界を目指している。
