Joëlle KONISHI

Joëlle Konishi is a contemporary artist who captures fleeting emotions and subtle presences that emerge and fade within light.

Working primarily in oil painting, she has developed her practice over more than a decade, exploring a wide range of subjects including figures, landscapes, and botanical elements. Her work is inspired by moments encountered in everyday life and during her travels, focusing on transient beauty and quiet atmospheres.

She is particularly interested in the layering of light and the subtle movement of air, often building her compositions through multiple layers to create depth and a sense of stillness. With a strong attention to precision in lines and structure, she carefully adjusts elements rather than directly replicating reality, maintaining a balanced tension within the composition.

Born in Taipei and influenced by Japanese culture, she later studied in Paris and continued her practice in Hong Kong. She is currently based in Singapore. Her works have been exhibited internationally in cities including New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taipei.

Joëlle Konishi は、光の中に現れては消えていく感情や気配を、静かにすくい取るように描く現代アーティストである。

彼女は10年以上にわたり油彩を中心に制作を行い、人物、風景、植物など多様なモチーフを通して、日常や旅の中で出会う一瞬の美しさを表現している。とりわけ光の重なりや空気の揺らぎに着目し、水面や空間に差し込む光を幾重にも塗り重ねることで、静けさと奥行きを画面に生み出している。構図や線の精度にも強い意識を持ち、現実をそのまま再現するのではなく、自身の感覚に基づいて要素を調整することで、均衡の取れた緊張感を保つ。

台湾に生まれ、日本文化の影響を受けて育ち、パリでの研修を経て香港で活動、現在はシンガポールを拠点とする。これまでにニューヨーク、シンガポール、香港、台北など国内外の展示に参加。彼女は作品を通して、鑑賞者がそれぞれの記憶や感情と静かに向き合い、日常の中に潜むわずかな美しさに気づくきっかけを生み出すことを目指している。
