Claudia Lee

Claudia Lee is a Hong Kong–based artist who works with wax in its most direct, physical form. She began as a candle artist, learning through heat and touch. What started with simple tools and small flames slowly opened into something larger. Wax became less of a craft material and more of a place she could stay—somewhere between control and surrender. From candles, her practice grew into wax sculpture and mixed‑media work, shaped by instinct and the willingness to let the material lead.

Earlier in her career, Claudia spent years in the fashion industry. That experience sharpened her sense of form, weight, and the emotional pull of objects. But it was wax that allowed her to work in a way that felt honest. It holds movement, softens edges, and records every decision, even the uncertain ones. Her work has received international recognition, including consecutive Japan Candle Artist Awards in 2022 and 2023.

Claudia’s sculptures sit in the space between vulnerability and resilience. They are traces of moments—quiet, imperfect, and alive. For her, making is not about perfection. It is about staying open, paying attention, and letting transformation happen in real time.

キャリアの初期、クラウディアは長年ファッション業界で働き、形や重さ、物が持つ感情的な力に対する感覚を磨いた。しかし、彼女にとって本当に正直に向き合える表現はワックスだった。ワックスは動きや揺らぎをとどめ、輪郭をやわらげ、迷いを含むすべての決断を記録する。彼女の作品は、2022年・2023年のジャパンキャンドルアーティストアワード連続受賞をはじめ、国際的な評価を得ている。
