TOMOKO TOKUDA aims to bring out world peace through cardboard art. She has been drawing since before she could even remember, and aims to create expressions that stimulate the five senses, including not only light, but also wind, scent, and sound. At the root of her work is the "beauty of subtraction, traditional beauty that conveys a sense of space without drawing" favored by successive Japanese painters such as Hasegawa Tohaku, and the German Bauhaus design theory of "simple is best."Just as her soul is pure, what she creates is clear and pleasant.

She discovered cardboard when she was struggling financially, which fits her consistent theme, to breathe new life into all living things. She will continue to create and deliver courage, love, hope, and peace to people all over the world. Yes, until the end of her life.

TOKUDA TOMOKO は、段ボールアートで世界平和を目指す。

世界遺産に登録されている奈良公園、東大寺大仏殿の近くで生まれ育った彼女は、物心つく前から描いていた。豊かな自然環境と歴史的建造物からの影響なのか、彼女は「光」はもちろん、風、香り、音まで感じさせ「五感を刺激する」そんな表現を目指している。その根底には、長谷川等伯ら歴代の日本人画家も好む「引き算の美ー描かずに空間を感じさせる伝統美」と、ドイツ・バウハウスのデザイン理論「シンプルイズベスト」がある。彼女の魂に曇りがないように、彼女の生み出すものは、清らかに澄んでいて、心地いい。

彼女の経済状況が思わしくない時に、今のお気に入り「段ボール」に出会う。1度、役目を終えた「モノ」に新しい生命を吹き込んでいく、彼女の一貫したテーマにも通じる。世界中の人々に元気と勇気、愛と希望と平和を届けるために、彼女は今日も創造し続ける。そう、命、尽きるまで。
