Kanari

Kanari is a stained glass artist who creates allegory and reality. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the inspiration for kimono and glass suddenly came to him.

Kimono were originally worn to avoid reflecting the human body directly, but the colored threads, the shine of gold threads, and the woven patterns are freed from the curved surface of the tube, and become a purely flat subject of appreciation. And by sandwiching the brilliance of the gold and orchid of Kyoto Nishijin-ori, a traditional Japanese culture, between two pieces of glass, wrapping it with copper tape, and soldering it, Kanari was able to express the delicate nature of stained glass like a sculpture or painting.

Kanariは、寓意と現実を創出するステンドグラスアーティストである。

新型コロナウイルス感染症のパンデミックの中、突然着物とガラスというインスピレーションが湧上がる。
着物は本来、人体を直接映し出さないよう着用されてきたが、色糸、金糸の輝き、そして織り込まれた模様は筒という曲面から解放され、純粋に平面的な鑑賞対象となる。そして、日本の伝統文化である京都西陣織の金蘭の輝きを、2枚のガラスで挟み込み、銅テープで巻き付け、ハンダ付けすることで、Kanariはステンドグラスの繊細な性質を、彫刻や絵画のように表現することを可能にした。

Kanariは、作品を通して、その奥深くに秘められた繊細でありながら力強いエネルギーを、世界中の人々に感じてほしいという思いで、日々制作に取り組んでいる。
