Mason Kodera was born and raised in Shizuoka, Japan. When he was young, he really liked drawing and crafting. This was influenced by his mother, who had been a fashion designer. His own world view was established by anime, video games and toys that he enjoyed when he was a child. After getting into Tama Art University, He gradually became more interested in design. In college, Mason gained experienced working in a major video game corporation as a UI designer. He also collaborated with a group of Taiwanese friends to establish an organization with the purpose of improving the relationship between Japan and Taiwan through art and design. They brought a number of Taiwanese artists to Japan and held some events and finally the organization came to be run with the help of a grant from Taiwanese government. Mason soon began working as a freelance graphic designer as a result of these opportunities. After graduating from college, He moved to New York City and has since been active as a designer.
