Biography

English | Japanese

Harano was born in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture in 1957.  She enjoyed painting from an early age, and was thought of as mature as long as she kept her pencils and paper at the ready. She graduated from Zokei Junior College of Art and Design, Kyushu Sangyo University in 1979. She then began working in a totally unrelated office job, and while she continued drawing to the level of a hobby, she never thought once about giving up on painting. She learned about extension courses being offered by Zokei Junior College and began attending course lectures on computer graphics art from 2011.  While she had always painted primarily with acrylic art implements and colored pencils, she was now experiencing fun with the variations offered by computer graphics. Harano’s work focuses mainly on digitally processing analog paintings of her cats as models to create numerous fully-digital works.  She uses paint software (Clip Studio) with a pen tablet as her creation tool to paint cat artworks, then produces her works using Photoshop.Harano has participated in group exhibitions based in Fukuoka Prefecture.  She held her own exhibit in Yokohama City. She has been part of a group exhibition in Sydney, Australia from 2015.  She is a member of the Fukuoka City Art Alliance (FCAA).
