Aimi Chiyoya is a Tokyo based artist who creates paintings. She has often read books since childhood, saying: ”Fantasy is the key of my creation. I wanted to visit the world by admiring magical spaces, animals in dreams and old townscapes abroad I had never been to. I even dreamt of entering the world of picture books." One day she began to play with the combination of beautiful illustration and storytelling. After working at an interior shop, she lived in the UK and studied illustration. In 2013, she travelled and created many works in France and Spain, sketching on location. This was a chance to trace her memories from the books she read. After 2017 she started painting with acrylics, expressing the world inside her mind. This joining of the fantasy worlds she remembered from childhood and real landscapes she encounters daily instantly guides us on an endless voyage into her fantasies that arise from deep mindfulness.
She believes her paintings are a way of communication, like reading a kids book: small but emotional. Through this communication with others, sometimes taking the forms of mural paintings based on the impression received from places and people and live painting, Her art speaks that "emotion" is a beautiful gift that was given to us all when we were born. This style of accepting all emotions such as joy, anger, sorrow, pleasure, etc. can give the work different meanings depending on the state of the viewer's mind.
